Places Travelled – Te Araroa Trail

For the 2019 Oilskin Wax photo shoot, Styx Mill traveled into the Rakaia River upper catchment area, visiting several high country stations and seeing some spectacular scenery in this remote area of the Southern Alps, South Island, New Zealand

Te Araroa Trail

The Te Araroa Trail, known as the “Long Pathway” is an amazing walking track traversing the length of New Zealand.

Starting at Cape Reinga in the Far North and finishing at Bluff in Southland, it is a mixture of older tracks and walkways and often link sections alongside roads. The trail winds along coastal sand, forested ridged ranges, farm land and volcanoes in the North Island, then across the national parks, huge valleys and mountain passes of the South Island.
