Double Hill
Double Hill is a unique mountain feature in the centre of the Rakaia valley, a short drive up from Rakaia Gorge.
Situated on the south side of the river and near the main divide, Double Hill takes the full blast of the powerful nor-west winds that funnel down the valley, saturate the mountains and rapidly flood the river. An iconic landmark, Double Hill is accessible for the public via a conservation road easement through farmland and then walking track access to spectacular valley and mountain views.
